Adjustments in Iyengar Yoga

Adjustments in Iyengar yoga are a great privilege and are executed with the utmost respect. At Hamilton Yoga Newcastle, you will find the teacher regularly circulating the room providing students with verbal cues and hand-on adjustments.

In the Iyengar yoga tradition, the art of adjustment is about guiding students toward safe alignment, deeper awareness, and therapeutic benefit—using verbal cues, props, and hands-on support. Props also play a key role, making poses accessible and effective for all and the teacher might suggest certain props for a student for a particular pose.

Adjustments are precise, always respectful, and individualised, based on years of observations and experience, following on from an extensive teacher training process.

With a pass purchase at our studio, students consent to be physically adjusted unless a preference is communicated before attending a class. Please refer to our terms and conditions.
